In stillness rises wisdom…
Founder of Shasta Yoga and the Mount Shasta Meditation Sangha, Amy is dedicated to the unfolding inquiry of what it is to be on a yogic path; to inspiring others in cultivating self awareness, self care, and embodied presence as well as offering support for a deeply informed life-long yoga practice.
Amy’s teaching weaves a creative, invigorating yet calming, centering yet spacious exploration of yoga postures, conscious breathing and embodied meditation to facilitate integrating inner and outer freedom.
Practicing yoga since 1979 and teaching since 1981, Amy received her Introductory Teaching Certificate from the rich community of practitioners and Senior teachers at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. Through raising children, marriage and running her own businesses, Yoga continues to inform and align her life choices and actions.
With Iyengar Yoga as her foundation for more 40 years, Amy has been offering private therapeutic and functional yoga sessions for the last 35 years and holds a Yoga Therapy Certification with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Amy has been Certified by as well as on faculty for the Integrative Yoga Therapy program with Joseph LePage. In addition, Amy has received Certifications in Massage Therapy from the Institute for Educational Therapy and the National Holistic Institute. Underlying her own practice, her Meditation training includes a Meditation Teacher Certification from the Expanding Light, Ananda School of Yoga & Meditation and completion of the Mindfulness Facilitator’s Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
Amy is deeply inspired by her somatic and bodywork studies (Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, Educational Movement Therapy, Massage Therapy) and explorations in Embodied Anatomy and Vipassana Meditation; she offers an integrated approach while still honoring Yoga's ancient wisdom teachings.
She teaches, mentors and leads registered Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher Training programs.
